Description
Halloween parties call for treats that are both delicious and festive, and this Halloween taco dip delivers on both fronts! Picture this: creamy layers of seasoned goodness topped with a spooky spider web design that’ll have your guests shrieking with delight (in the best way possible).
Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1 cup sour cream
- 3 tablespoons taco seasoning
- 16-ounce can refried beans
- 16 ounces guacamole (homemade or store-bought)
- ¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican cheese blend
- ½ cup diced tomatoes, fresh
- ½ small yellow onion, diced
- ¼ cup sliced black olives
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
- Tortilla chips for serving
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with sour cream. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Remove ¼ cup of this mixture and set aside in a piping bag or small bowl – you’ll use this for the spider web design later.
- Add the taco seasoning to the remaining cream cheese mixture and stir until evenly distributed.
- Spread the refried beans evenly in a 9-inch pie dish or shallow serving bowl.
- Carefully spread the taco-seasoned cream cheese mixture over the beans.
- Spread the guacamole carefully on top of the cream cheese layer.
- Using a knife or toothpick, lightly score concentric circles in the guacamole, starting from the center and working outward.
- Draw lines from the center to the edge, creating your web pattern.
- Fill your piping bag with the reserved cream cheese mixture. Pipe along your scored lines to create a visible spider web design.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese around the edges of the dish to create a border.
- Top with diced tomatoes, onions, black olives, and fresh cilantro.
- For the spider, place a whole olive in the center, then use thin olive slices to create eight legs extending outward.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Choose ripe but firm tomatoes to prevent your dip from getting watery. You can make this spooky taco dip ahead of time, leaving you free to focus on your costume! The flavors actually improve after sitting overnight.
