Description
When I was trying to find a high protein artichoke dip that didn’t rely on cream cheese and mayo, I honestly thought I’d have to give up my favorite party appetizer forever. This high protein artichoke dip uses Greek yogurt and cottage cheese as the creamy base, packing in about 6-8 grams of protein per serving while keeping all that rich, satisfying flavor we crave.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (non-fat or low-fat)
- ½ cup blended cottage cheese or silken tofu
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (or nutritional yeast for vegan)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 can (14 oz) artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
- 1 cup fresh or thawed frozen spinach (squeeze dry)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Zest of ½ lemon for brightness (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F if you want to serve this warm
- In your food processor, combine the Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, minced garlic, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper
- Blend until completely smooth and creamy – about 30-45 seconds should do it
- Make sure your spinach is really well-drained and roughly chop your artichoke hearts
- Transfer your creamy base to a mixing bowl and gently fold in the chopped artichokes, squeezed spinach, and Parmesan cheese
- Add salt, pepper, maybe some lemon zest if you want brightness, or those red pepper flakes if you like a little heat
- For cold: Transfer to a serving bowl and dig in immediately with your favorite dippers
- For warm: Spoon into a baking dish and bake for 10-15 minutes until bubbly and golden on top
Notes
This dip keeps beautifully in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in an airtight container. The secret is using cottage cheese that’s been blended until smooth – it doesn’t taste cottage cheese-y at all, it just adds incredible creaminess and protein without any weird texture.
